EYFS CURRICULUM

AtKing’s Oak British International School, we acknowledge the paramount significance of early childhood in a child’s overall development.

Consequently, we prioritize offering extensive support to our Early Years students, ensuring the acquisition of skills essential for lifelong learning. Within our Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) department, we cultivate a warm, diverse, and inclusive setting, empowering children to flourish.

Our objective is to provide each child with the optimal foundation for life by nurturing their enthusiasm for learning through play, exploration, and discovery, emphasising our commitment to individual growth and development.

The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Framework

Our youngest learnersat King’s Oak British International School follow the comprehensive English Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum, establishing a solid foundationfor their educational journey. We commence the nurturing and development of the whole child from the age of 18 months, placing emphasis on their emotional well-being, cognitive growth, and social development. In EYFS and Reception classes, children actively participate in engaging and enjoyable experiences designed to spark curiosity and foster a love for learning.

The curriculum encompasses seven interconnected and equally vital areas of learning and development. Among these, three essential aspects, referred to as ‘Prime Areas,’ play a pivotal role in encouraging children’s curiosity and passion for learning. These prime areas focus on building children’s capacity to learn, facilitating the formation of meaningful relationships, and fostering overall well-being.

These three fundamental areas, known as ‘Prime Areas,’ form the cornerstone of early childhood development at King’s Oak British International School:

·        Communication and language
·        Physical development
·        Personal, social, andemotional development

In addition to these Prime Areas, we further enrich and apply children’s learning through four ‘Specific Areas’ that play a crucial role in their holistic development:

·        Literacy
·        Mathematics
·        Understanding the world
·        Expressive arts and design

By addressing both Prime and Specific Areas, our approach ensures a well-rounded and comprehensive educational experience, nurturing each child’s growth and fostering a diverserange of skills.

Your child’s educational adventure at King’s Oak British International School involves
amulti-sensory exploration across all seven Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum areas. Throughout this journey, they will joyfully engage inactivities such as singing, dancing, experimenting, investigating, creating, and constructing.
