Eco Committee
Environmental issues are a top priority at our school, embraced by teachers and students. We are passionate about protecting our planet and taking tangible actions to make a positive difference. Beginning at a young age, students are educated about critical environmental concerns such as climate change, biodiversity loss, and plastic pollution. They are encouraged to actively contribute to cleaning up our world through practices like recycling and energy conservation and engaging in innovative projects like upcycling in Art/DT.
We are thrilled to announce that King’s Oak School’s Eco Committee has earned the prestigious Eco-Schools Green Flag Award, marking our active participation in the Eco-Schools program for eight years. This student-led initiative empowers young individuals to initiate positive changes for the environment in their schools and communities, including preserving Green Lake.
Our students have wholeheartedly engaged in various environmentally-focused initiatives and educational opportunities. The Eco committee has conducted recycling audits, spearheaded tree planting campaigns, and contributed to redesigning our school playground. Additionally, they have actively participated in Green Lake clean-ups, composting projects, and litter picks, conducting research to support our school’s sustainability goals. Sustainability assemblies have been thoughtfully integrated into our KS2curriculum to ensure comprehensive learning on this crucial topic.
Looking forward, we are excited to continue our eco journey. Our plans include ongoing tree planting and maintenance, recycling efforts in partnership with Recicleta for paper, glass, cardboard, and metal, and organising events that promote the principles of “Recycle, Reduce, Reuse, Repurpose.
“If you would like to contribute to our initiatives, please contact the office at reception@kingsoakschool.ro.
Thank you in advance for your support.
